Scott Laugenour background and bio
Scott’s
experiences in business, civic groups, boards, committees and
in the arts, along with his first-hand observation of the effects
of public policies in various parts of the world, have equipped
him with a perspective for solution-finding that is constructive
and future-focussed.
Scott
and his husband, Mark Woodward, have lived in Lenox since 1999.
Scott has served in local and regional committees through appointments
to Lenox's Economic Development Steering Committee, to the board
of the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority to volunteering
in the Lenox Environment Committee.
In
the Green-Rainbow Party, Scott is an elected Berkshire County
representative on the party's State Committee. He is also active
in the Berkshires chapter of the party.
As
a promoter of contemporary art with a migratory gallery space,
Scott has served in the past on the boards for both the Williamsburg
Gallery Association in Brooklyn and for the Storefront Artist
Project in Pittsfield.
Raised in central California, Scott pursued
higher education in Washington, DC and in Honolulu, where he
graduated in 1980 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies/Applied Linguistics.
He was a language teacher in Tokyo before working in various
locations and capacities for Marriott Hotels, starting at the
front desk and working up to the position of Regional Vice President.
This was at a time when Marriott was investing heavily in new
top-line business strategy systems around the world, which Scott
helped to develop and to roll out. He has also done business
strategy consulting for independent clients in the US and overseas.
Since his early childhood Scott has had a keen interest in music,
which was nurtured by his public school system’s strong
commitment to music and arts programs.
